Föreläsning om autism med Professor Yehezkel Ben-Ari från INMED Marseille, på Karolinska Institutet den 23 september.
Professor Yehezkel Ben-Ari is one of the leading neuroscientists in Europe. He discovered that nerve cells in the brain may fail to connect adequately causing diseases like epilepsy and autism. He will present evidences that the high oxytocin levels during birth have neuroprotective and analgesic effects on the newborn brain. This protective mechanism has been shown to be abolished in animal models of autism. It can be restored by administration of a diuretic which attenuates the severity of autism. This drug has also been found to ameliorate the severity of the syndrome in children.
