The International Science Festival Gothenburg

From the 7th to the 11th of May 2014, the International Science Festival of Gothenburg takes science to the streets, bringing it into the public sphere. More than 300 activities, seminars will take place both in Swedish and English.

This event, free to the public, is one the largest and most popular scientific festivals in Europe.

During this festival, two French researchers Antoine Doucet, Associate Professor, Docent, Normandy University, Unicaen and Gaël Lejeune, PhD, Normandy University, Unicaen will present DAnIEL, a multi-lingual epidemiological monitoring tool.

Multilingual Epidemic News Surveillance: Covering the Earth for Timely Alerts

Description : In the age of open and big data, the ability to automatically analyze numerous media written in multiple languages has become more crucial than ever. We will show how our system for epidemic surveillance, DAnIEL, currently processes over 40 languages. This allows health agencies to follow the spread of epidemics in the most reactive fashion, for a better chance to take adequate and timely action.
